Martha’s Vineyard landscape artist Renee Balter has been painting
island vistas since the mid 1970’s. Her work reflects a deep connection
and abiding love for the Vineyard that began in 1954 when she traveled
to the island for the first time.
She and her husband Bruce have lived on the island since 1987. Drawn to the Victorian architecture of Oak Bluffs and the nostalgia of another era, Renee’s acrylic paintings have captured the uniqueness and haunting qualities of this charming Vineyard town.
In 1996, Renee’s monoprints were featured in the Vineyard guide book, “Magic Time”. Over the years, she has shown her work at the Cousen Rose and the Dragonfly Galleries in Oak Bluffs.
